2013…I never in my wildest dreams as a child thought I would see this year happen.
After all, when you are growing up, you only think about the next day or two. Or maybe you look forward to that birthday in the far future of the year. How quickly each year is beginning to fly by! It seems that each year goes more quickly than the next. I guess that, as you grow older, you think of more and more things that you want to do with your life and you start to feel that time is running out. Some of your friends and family members pass on, your children and grand-children hit milestone birthdays and your milestone birthdays come at you fast and furious.
It is hard to think that in just a very few short years I will be at the age of“retirement”, complete with Social Security and Medi-Care (hopefully). There are times at this point in my life that I feel I am wandering aimlessly and then other times, I feel that I am accomplishing everything that I write down to accomplish. I have never had a bucket list, so there is nothing that I feel like I HAVE to see or do although I feel that I won’t be seeing or doing everything that I imagined when I was a teenager. I just want to see as much as I can see while I am still here.
Times change, dreams change, and life happens. This is a lesson that was very hard for me to learn. I am, after all, pretty pig-headed (just ask Thom). It took some time, however, I did eventually get it. I figured out that you do what you can do, help people as much as you can, and hope for the best. I have a wonderful husband, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. My parents and step-parents are healthy. The rest of my family members love me and I love them. I have wonderful friends who would help me if I needed it and I would do the same for them.
And in the end, what more could you ask for?
