
sacred, mystical, holy, and praised. The warmth of the sun lifted the soul and healed the spirit within.
When the sun went down, the cold dampness of night would bring fear amongst the people. The inability to see their surroundings was like a blank canvas that anything could be drawn upon. Monsters, demons, and wild animals could be within touching distance. One day, fire from the heavens was given to the people. The ability to light up the darkness was a form of healing. Not only did it light up the night, it gave warmth to the people. It gave them new ways to prepare food. The light of the fire gave humans the ability to put fear in animals that they had once feared. The light of the fire had the power and ability to keep the demons away at night.
With the invention of the light bulb, people began to take light for granted. They could dispel the dark so that their primal fears were kept in a back corner of their minds. With the lights on, their fears would subside. The ability of light to banish fear is a form of healing.
As I sat in the doctor’s office waiting to have some skin cancers treated I realized once more the power of light. Now, instead of freezing these things off, like they have in the past, the magic of light will activate a medicine that will be painted on my face to destroy the cancer cells.
